Privacy Policy
Frigate Proxy Switcher lets users configure and switch their own proxy servers and run connection diagnostics. This policy describes data handled by the extension. It does not replace the policies of proxy providers or external diagnostic websites.
1. Data used by the extension
- Proxy profiles: profile names, proxy hostnames or IP addresses, ports and protocol types.
- Account identifiers and authentication information: usernames and passwords entered by the user for HTTP/HTTPS proxy authentication.
- IP addresses: proxy addresses and the external IP returned by a user-initiated IP check. The extension does not request GPS coordinates or determine the user's physical location.
- Technical network activity: request identifiers, associated proxy profile identifiers, configuration revisions, authentication attempt flags, timestamps and incognito flags. These are used to match proxy authentication challenges and prevent repeated failed attempts.
The extension does not record browsing URLs or browsing history, read page contents, or collect health information, payment information or personal communications.
2. Local storage and retention
Proxy profiles and credentials are stored in chrome.storage.local in the user's browser profile. Access is restricted to trusted extension contexts. The extension does not synchronize them to a cloud account or send the complete profile list to a developer-operated backend. Credentials are stored without additional application-level encryption.
IP-check results and technical authentication bookkeeping are stored in chrome.storage.session. They survive suspension of the extension's service worker but are cleared when Chrome restarts. Completed or failed requests are removed from authentication bookkeeping; the request table is also bounded and pruned.
Saved profiles remain until the user edits or deletes them or removes the extension's stored data. Chrome may separately cache proxy authentication in its own networking components.
3. Connections to the selected proxy
The proxy selected by the user receives the connection data necessary to provide the proxy service, including the client's connecting IP address, destination information and, when configured, the proxy username and password. Proxy credentials are supplied only for proxy authentication, not website authentication. The proxy provider may be Frigate or a third party, depending on the user's choice.
HTTP/HTTPS proxies can use credentials; SOCKS5 profiles in this Chrome extension cannot. An ordinary HTTP proxy connection is not encrypted between Chrome and the proxy. The HTTPS proxy type uses TLS and requires a certificate trusted by Chrome. HTTPS websites retain their own TLS connection through CONNECT.
4. User-initiated diagnostic services
- Check IP: sends an HTTPS request through the configured proxy to api.ipify.org / ipify. The service receives the exit IP and normal connection data. The returned IP and request duration are displayed by the extension.
- DNS test: opens ToDetect DNS Leak Test in a new tab.
- p0f test: opens p0f4.privateproxy.ru in a new tab. The service receives connection data and may analyze the TCP/IP fingerprint of the connection reaching it.
Checks are initiated by the user. Proxy credentials and profile lists are not added to diagnostic URLs. The extension does not read or store the DNS/p0f websites' results or modify the TCP/IP fingerprint. External services operate under their own privacy practices and may use cookies or process additional data when visited.
5. Permissions and browser settings
proxy configures the selected proxy; storage saves profiles and session state; privacy disables network prediction and restricts non-proxied WebRTC UDP while enabled. webRequest, webRequestAuthProvider and host access to all URLs support proxy authentication for arbitrary user-requested sites and the external IP check. Page contents are not read or modified.
Turning off the proxy releases this extension's proxy and privacy settings and restores the previous effective browser preferences. The extension is not a system-wide VPN or a guarantee against every DNS leak. The proxy server's own hostname may be resolved locally.
6. Limited use and sharing
Information is used only to provide the stated proxy-management and diagnostic features, consistent with the Limited Use requirements of the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy. The extension has no advertising, background analytics, data sale or creditworthiness assessment. It does not send a browsing history or profile database to the developer. Transfers described above occur to provide the user's selected proxy connection and requested diagnostic checks.
7. User controls and contact
Users can turn off proxying, edit or delete profiles, clear the extension's stored data, or uninstall the extension. Disable the active proxy before editing or deleting it. Disabling or uninstalling the extension releases its browser settings. Users can separately manage Chrome's cached authentication and browsing data.
